This browser
Logged in means this browser holds a key of your card, made here and never sent anywhere.

- This device
- Its key
Your card’s address
To show your card to someone in person. Their phone’s camera opens it, then you read the twelve words to each other to be sure it is the right card.
Devices and keys
They are on your card, where you add or revoke a device, make or replace the backup file and bring public keys you already use.
API keys
Connect a server integration and manage its allowance.
Email notices
An email when something happens to your card: another card asks for one of your accounts, a device is added or revoked, a proof stops confirming. At most three a day.
The Veil staff
Your card is a member of the Veil organisation with a staff role. What the role can sign is in the staff panel, and every action there is a statement in the public log.
Log out
On your own device, logging out is enough. On a shared or borrowed one, revoke the key too, so it is worth nothing even to whoever finds it.
Log out of this browser
This browser forgets its key. The key stays on the card, unused, and no page can copy it out of this browser.
Log out of this browser? You will need the backup file or another device to use this card here again. On a shared or borrowed device, revoke it instead.
Log out and revoke this device
The card marks this browser’s key as revoked, then this browser forgets it. This is the one to use on a shared or borrowed device.
Revoke this browser’s key and log out?
Close this card
Closing takes 24 hours, and any active key of the card can cancel it until then. After that it is for good.
This is what happens, and when.
- Now
- The card says it is closing. Any of its active keys can cancel, here or on the card.
- After 24 hours
- Its name, picture, devices and linked accounts are deleted, and no key can sign for it any more. This can’t be undone.
- For ever
- The public log keeps the card’s number and its entries, which nobody can open any more, so nobody else can take its place.
